The office of "Contact Officer for Intercultural and Religious Affairs" (KIA) has been in place since the end of 2023. The KIA team looks after religious and cultural institutions as well as post-migrant communities.
In Lippe, Chief Superintendent of Police Kathryn Landwehrmeier and Detective Chief Superintendent York Clases take on this important role.
Their tasks include regular visits, participation in local events and festivals as well as press and public relations work. They also maintain contact with consular missions, municipal officials, authorities and other institutions.
Our aim is to ensure the transparency and comprehensibility of our police work.
Mr. Clases previously acted as "Contact Officer for Muslim Institutions" (KMI). This office has now been expanded to KIA and now provides a point of contact for all religious and cultural communities.
Main tasks of the KIA:
- Establishing and maintaining contacts with religious and cultural institutions as well as post-migrant communities through regular visits to the institutions
- Participation in events or festivals, public relations work including in the context of involvement in campaigns and symposia as well as participation in information and dialog events, in particular on the position, role, task and self-image of the police
- General and event-related participation in target group-specific events
- Establishing and maintaining contacts with consular representations, municipal officials, authorities and institutions
- Establishing transparency and traceability of police work
- Receiving information and tips as well as event-related information management to responsible departments and authorities, Providing offers of help and contacts as part of networking
- Involvement in specialist committees, such as the Expert Commission on Signposts
