The Detmold patrol area has a total of nine district officers. Together, they are responsible for all districts of Detmold as well as Augustdorf and Schlangen and serve as personal contacts for local people in police matters. The management of the Detmold district and priority service (BSD for short) has now changed: Chief Superintendent Jens Solomon took over this role on 01.07.2023 and is therefore also the deputy head of Detmold police station. He replaces Chief Superintendent Cord Römisch, who held this position for around two years and has now moved to the Lippe police control center.
As head of the BSD, Jens Solomon is responsible for the official and technical supervision of the entire Detmold district service and is in constant, close contact with the "village sheriffs". After just the first few weeks in his new post, the 51-year-old is already focusing on one thing: "The district service is of particular importance in terms of proximity to citizens. Our main task is to maintain a high level of trust with the people in the Detmold patrol area and to maintain trusting contact with them."
The duties of the chief police commissioner also include regular contact with citizens, social interest groups, institutions, organizations and municipal offices, such as kindergartens and schools. The district service also acts as a link between the police and regional law enforcement and security partnerships. As head of the Detmold BSD, Jens Solomon will also accompany events such as shooting festivals, sporting events or meetings together with his team in future. He will also perform tasks in the area of traffic accident prevention and response, support the monitoring of accident blackspots and take part in special operations.
"It is very important to me to continue the successful work of my predecessor Cord Römisch. This also includes close internal cooperation with all police stations, the criminal investigation departments and the traffic department," explains the Detmold-born officer, who devotes his free time to animal welfare, spends a lot of time with his dog and loves sport and traveling with his wife.
Jens Solomon completed his vocational training as an industrial clerk before joining the NRW police force in 2003 and initially worked in the commercial sector for several years. As a fresh-faced police commissioner, he was posted directly to his home town of Lippe in 2006 - and never wanted to leave the beautiful district. With many years of experience in patrol duty, he has been proving himself as a squad leader at Lemgo and Detmold police stations since 2017, before being promoted to Head of BSD. Jens Solomon can now be contacted by telephone on (05231) 6090-1450; his office is located in Detmold police station at Bielefelder Straße 90.
