The PP Duisburg processes personal data in the context of
- stationary video surveillance in the video area "Pollmann-Eck", in particular in the sections of Weseler Straße between house numbers 3 to 38, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße between house numbers 270 to the end and Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße between house numbers 1 to 18 and
- mobile video surveillance in the "Hamborner Altmarkt" video area, in particular in the sections of Alleestraße 26-36, Jägerstraße 76-80, Parallelstraße 1-18, Richterstraße 42-48, Harnackstraße 7 and Schreckerstraße 10-16 in 47166 Duisburg, starting on 21.05.2024 up to and including 02.07.2024 daily from 10:00 to 02:00. Under certain circumstances, video surveillance may also take place outside these times.

The stationary and mobile video surveillance of the Duisburg police department is based on Section 15a of the North Rhine-Westphalia Police Act (PolG NRW). It serves the purpose of detecting and preventing criminal offences and dangerous situations at an early stage, minimizing the consequences of criminal offences, ensuring evidence-proof criminal proceedings, solving criminal offences and increasing citizens' sense of security. To this end, your personal data is processed as video data when you enter the camera's field of vision. The video images are observed and evaluated live by video observers in the control center and video center. If crimes and dangerous situations are detected, emergency services are dispatched immediately.
Your personal data will only be further processed by Duisburg Police Headquarters if it is required for the evidentiary prosecution of criminal offenses or if facts justify the assumption that the person concerned will commit criminal offenses in the future and the recordings are necessary for the preventive combating of criminal offenses.
In the context of criminal proceedings, the video data is transmitted as evidence to the competent public prosecutor's office.
The recorded video data is stored for 14 days and, unless it is used as evidence in criminal proceedings or to prevent criminal offenses, is then automatically deleted.
In accordance with Section 49 DSG NRW, you have the right to obtain information about the personal data stored about you, including the origin of the data, any recipients and the planned storage period. If you believe that incorrect personal data is being processed, you have the right to rectification in accordance with Section 50 (1) DSG NRW.
If the legal requirements are met, you can request the erasure or restriction of processing in accordance with Section 50 (2) and (3) DSG NRW.
You also have the right to contact the competent supervisory authority (in NRW the State Commissioner for Data Protection and
Freedom of Information [LDI]) in the event of complaints.
