Our Traffic Directorate is divided into Traffic Accident Prevention, Traffic Services and the Traffic Commissioner's Office.
Traffic accident prevention
A very important pillar of our directorate are 7 road safety advisors. They instruct certain road user groups by means of traffic education and awareness-raising measures. This influences and positively changes social behavior in road traffic. For this reason, the police's structured prevention work begins in kindergarten and continues right through to senior citizens.
This work is not just about teaching the rules, but above all about clarifying the meaning and purpose of the desired compliance with the rules.
Traffic service
The officers of the traffic service are active in specialized traffic monitoring in the entire district of Lippe.
The main focus is on combating the main causes of accidents
- inappropriate speed
- failure to give way; errors when turning; errors when overtaking
- Failure to wear seat belts and the ban on talking on the phone
- Participation in road traffic under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
as well as the monitoring and control of commercial passenger and goods traffic, here
- Checks on school transport; checks on coaches
- Compliance with social regulations
- Checks on the technical condition of vehicles
- Checks with regard to load securing
- Compliance with dangerous goods regulations
Transport inspectorate
The traffic commissioner's office is responsible for all incidents "relating to road traffic". The spectrum ranges from traffic offenses and simple property damage accidents to traffic accidents involving fleeing and serious traffic accidents with personal injury to the processing of traffic offenses.
As a rule, the cases are first recorded by officers from the "Danger Prevention/Employment" directorate. They are then processed at the police stations in Detmold and Bad Salzuflen and include all investigative steps up to the submission of cases ready for a decision to the fining authorities and public prosecutor's offices.
